How it all began and why it matters
I wandered into the future.
From my childhood. Into the unknown.
Full of hope and aspirations. But also with worries about what I should do in life and how.
Would I make it?
Oh well, I had all the time in the world. Forever. It felt like forever until I was old enough. Surely things would fall into places. And I would achieve all of my dreams. I had so much time, I just grew up and had my life in front of me.
Fingers snitched.
A couple of decades later I can't say the same. I definitely don't feel I've got all the time in the world. And all of the sudden it felt like time put a turbo on and ran for it's life. Here I am. Soaking up time. Milking everything I can out of it. Fighting time. To achieve my dreams.
But boy have I experienced a lot. I didn't know my North Star. I didn't know much at all. I didn't have any role models. I didn't have the Internet. But I did have friends. I was curious. And I had to figure it out myself. Life. My life. The world. All of it.
And you might be surprised that I found it in the US. That's when I started on my real growth journey. Started to shape my North Star. Little by little. Like an unshaped crystal. Life slowly taught me how to shape it until it fit me like a glove. But I'm still shaping it. I`m changing. Evolving. So does my glove.
I thought of a tape measure. Pulled out all the way. And it showed the numbers 1 to 100. I could see myself standing on the number my age was. I looked back at my life. From birth and the years I had lived. Then I looked ahead of me. From where I stood and as long as I statistically could expect to live.
That's when it really hit me.
That time is the one thing in life we don't get more of.
3 ranches later, 7 horses and one home-made colt and a life lesson in eating humble pies later, while actively seeking new knowledge, experiences, friendships and personal development, failed, succeeded, failed again, and felt stuck. Got inspired and full of ideas, felt stuck again, and then....
Back in Norway. Where it all started. Back too my roots, I collected my life lessons and meditated. A lot. Yoga and meditation, long walks in the Norwegian forest. With my four legged, furry friend.
It all made sense.
Just kidding. It didn`t.
But I had so much to share. With all of you.
My meditations and times on the yoga mat, the books and great people out there sharing their stories so we can learn. I had something to share too. I overcame hardships, it made me resilient. To life, to the world. To the bloody noses. To never give up. It helped me overcome tremendous stress and overwhelm.
I started on a tiny growth journey when I got my first dog. And started dog training. Got another dog. Tons of courses and clinics and lots of new acquaintances and friends later I was also an educated instructor from two different schools. I had been the leader of one of the dog clubs I was involved in, a secretary in the other one. I lived for the dogs, training, the community.
But I also had a deep passion for horses. I had been taking riding lessons English style, and went to a clinic.
But something was missing.
I had lived my life. But now I started to live my life on purpose.
I wanted to be able to look back some day, knowing that I took chances, I did things, I explored. Was curious. Fell on my nose and got back up again. Several times.
As my mentor in horsemanship says; It takes a few bloody noses to learn how to keep your head down and figure it out.
I wanted to have a book of life to read to my future child one day. And to entertain myself later on when I might not be able to do all the things I want to do. Knowing I tried. I lived. I wrote a book. My own book. My life. And hopefully in that book, I achieved some of my dreams.
Back in Norway I remembered to live close to nature. Be nature. We are nature. To live a slower life, on my terms.
Live an intentional life, my life on purpose.
I learned that time is our most precious resource—once spent, it’s gone forever. I realized that living intentionally, close to nature, and aligned with purpose is the key to a fulfilling life. Through resilience, curiosity, and learning from mistakes, I found my North Star.
And now, I want to help you find yours. Whether you seek calm, clarity, or the courage to follow your dreams, this space is for you.
The echoes of the North taught me to slow down, embrace life’s lessons, and find meaning. Will you take the first step on your journey?
